Apollo 11 Moon Landing Commemorative Plate
Plate Commemorating Man’s Landing on the Moon
This plate was made to commemorative the Apollo 11 space mission and man’s first time landing on the moon. Apollo 11 blasted off on July 16 with three astronauts onboard: Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin. The date of the lunar landing was July 20, 1969. On the same date Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon and accompanied by Buzz Aldrin, planted the American flag on the lunar surface.
This plate measures about 6 ½ inches in diameter. It is made of a ruffled glass with gold leaf and could have been intended as a candy dish or ashtray. There aren’t any markings to tell us who made this plate. Please feel free to comment if you happen to know who did.
