Here’s an easy craft from days gone by. When I was a kid we used to make all sorts of things using plastic canvas and yarn—ornaments, coin purses, and, yes, tissue box covers.

What’s great about this craft is you can use different sizes of plastic mesh canvas, so even the younger ones can use larger, plastic needles to create something special for their own bathroom.

You’ll find a few graph patterns at favecrafts, as well as at FreePatterns.com, but you could also create your own design using graph paper. Just make sure you’re design fits based on the number of squares in the canvas.

Cost? About $6 – $10, depending on the type of yarn you use and the detail of piece.

Of course, if you’re like me or my mom, and have lots of remnant yarn and such lying around, the cost is minimal, making this kind of project great for cleaning up those craft boxes stored in the closet.
