Weekend DIY: Vinyl Record Bookends

Bookends Made out of Vinyl Records

Learn how to make these bookends at instructables.com

If you have some old vinyls lying around (preferrably ones that aren’t rare, and scratched ones are just fine), there are plenty of things you can make for the home. I have to admit, I’m not keen on the warped bowls that are baked in the household oven. When I saw these bookends, though, I fell in love. They’re subtle, decorative and totally functional.

Now’s the time to hit the thrift store or garage sale circuit. If necessary, you could even print a custom record label (or just print on paper, cut and glue).

This five-minute tutorial shows you how to mold the record using hot water and steam. All you need are the records, a glass baking dish, and an optional wood block.

Can’t spare a few minutes? Etsy user retrograndma will make them for you for under $20.
