Vintage Carta Blanca Mexican Ice Chest
Some years ago, when we were in the restoration business, we worked on this Mexican cooler. It’s a beer cooler, manufactured for the makers of Carta Blanca “cerveza” (Spanish for beer).
It’s a simple concept unit, meaning one filled the cooler with ice and then placed the bottles to either cool them or keep them chilled. We believe it was made sometime during the 1950s or 1960s.
This is a rare cooler and is a great example of point-of-purchase advertising. With its bright colors and extensive embossing and debossing (all the print on the lid is debossed), it was a time-consuming job.
The unit measures 22″ wide by 39″ high and 14.5″ deep.
Unfortunately, we do not know who manufactured this cooler, so if you have any insight, we’d love for you to chime in below!
This item is not for sale. We show restored items in our museum for viewing, information and to further the hobby of collecting and restoration. We also just want to share the photos of the many items we have restored over the years.
